The present invention provides a silicon nitride based porous body in which the residual amount of carbon is reduced in a degreasing step of the manufacturing process and the mechanical strength of a molded product after degreasing is ensured, and a method for manufacturing the same. At least one of silicon nitride particles and metal silicon particles is used as a main raw material, and at least one element selected from the group consisting of the main raw material, an organic binder, Al, Mg, Fe, Zr, Y, and a lanthanoid is used. An inorganic binder which is a compound containing the above and a pore former are mixed, and a molded body of the mixture is degreased and fired. [Selection figure] None |
