A rubber composition in which basic magnesium sulfate inorganic fibers are uniformly dispersed in a diene rubber matrix and a method for producing the same are provided. (A) A mixed liquid (M) is prepared by dispersing and dissolving a basic magnesium sulfate inorganic fiber (A), a higher fatty acid (B) and a diene polymer (C) in a solvent (S). A step, (b) isolating the basic magnesium sulfate-dispersed diene polymer (X) from the mixed solution (M), and (c) the basic magnesium sulfate-dispersed diene polymer (X) and the diene.
