abstract | Provided is a lubricating oil composition for an internal combustion engine that can achieve both fuel saving and coking reduction in a turbocharger in an internal combustion engine equipped with a turbocharger. The base oil contains (A) an overbased phenate detergent having a base number of 100 mgKOH / g or more, (B) a sulfonate detergent having a base number of 150 mgKOH / g or less, and (C) zinc dithiophosphate. A lubricating oil composition satisfying the following conditions (i) and (ii): [M] ≧ 1100 (i) [M] + 2 × [P] ≧ 2600 (ii) (Wherein [M] represents the amount of metal (mass ppm) derived from the component (A) and the component (B) in the lubricating oil composition, and [P] represents the amount of phosphorus derived from the component (C) in the lubricating oil composition.
