A conventional nuclear power plant provides a new type of nuclear fuel because there are obstacles to overcome. An annular metallic fuel system coated with a zirconium sheath 205 is described. A metal fuel pin system is described that includes an annular metal nuclear fuel alloy. The zirconium sheath 205 surrounds the metal fuel 103, and the cladding 207 surrounds the zirconium sheath 205. A gas plenum filled with helium is also provided. A mold arrangement and method for processing an annular metal fuel coated with a zirconium sheath 205 is also described. [Selection] Figure 2 |
