abstract Provided is a liquid discharge recording apparatus capable of suppressing contamination of a surface of an ink jet head and a recording sheet being conveyed by suppressing deposition of a liquid containing a diol having a hydroxyl group at both ends of an alkyl group. A liquid discharge head 4 for discharging a first liquid and an absorber for absorbing the first liquid discharged from the liquid discharge head, wherein the first liquid is represented by formula (1). The sorbent absorbs the second liquid containing the non-volatile wetting agent and the non-volatile 1,2-alkylenediol, and the non-volatile wetting agent is mixed in the second liquid. The amount is 20 to 50% by weight, the amount of the nonvolatile 1,2-alkylenediol is 2 to 10% by weight, and the amount of the nonvolatile 1,2-alkylenediol in the second liquid is , Not less than 1/4 of the amount of diol in the first liquid.
