abstract The present invention provides a molecular target drug used for gastrointestinal cancer treatment, elucidates a biomarker for predicting the therapeutic effect of the molecular target drug for each patient, and performs treatment with the molecular target drug. The object is to provide a method for screening patients with gastrointestinal cancer who are expected to be effective. By using prostaglandin D2 synthase, endogenous prostaglandin D2 production can be promoted and the growth of digestive organ cancer cells can be suppressed. Furthermore, prostaglandin D2 synthase selectively exhibits a growth inhibitory effect on digestive organ cancer cells having a high expression level of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor γ1 or its mRNA.
