abstract |
An antibacterial material exhibiting practical antibacterial performance regardless of the presence or absence of light irradiation. An antibacterial material according to an embodiment includes at least one kind of fine particles selected from tungsten oxide fine particles and tungsten oxide composite fine particles. The BET specific surface area of the fine particles is 11 m 2 / g or more and 300 m 2 / g or less. The fine particles have a specific X-ray diffraction peak as measured by the X-ray diffraction method. When the antibacterial evaluation test of fine particles was performed, it was expressed as [R = log (B1 / C1)] (B1: average value of viable cell count of unprocessed test piece, C1: average value of viable cell count of test piece) When the antibacterial activity value R is 0.1 or more and the antibacterial evaluation test is conducted in the dark, [RD = log (BD / CD) (BD: viable bacteria after storage of the unprocessed test piece in the dark) The antibacterial activity value RD expressed by the average value of the number, CD: the average number of viable bacteria after storing the test piece in the dark) is 0.1 or more.
