It is an object of the present invention to provide a monoclonal antibody having high specificity for a sugar chain-deficient IgA1 characteristic of IgA nephropathy and being useful for testing for IgA nephropathy. An antibody against a sugar chain-deficient human IgA1 is provided which specifically recognizes a human IgA1 hinge portion to which a sugar chain containing no sialic acid and galactose is bound.
