Adult dental pulp stem cells in vitro and in vivo |
abstract |
The present invention provides a culture of isolated adult dental pulp stem cells that can differentiate into dentin / dental pulp tissue that can be used to create teeth in humans, and a method for regenerating human dentin / dental pulp tissue. A chronogenic, rapidly proliferating population of cells from adult dental pulp is isolated. Human dentin / dental pulp tissue is regenerated by contacting cells from a culture of isolated adult dental pulp stem cells with hydroxyapatite / tricalcium phosphate and then transplanting the cells into a mammal.
