A mobile information gateway transmits information between a wearable human interface module having an image supply and display mechanism for presenting information overlaid on a wide field of view, and the human interface module, A computing and communication module adapted to receive and a backend service server coupled to process medical data. The invention further includes the step of capturing information by a first mobile information gateway device, determining the identification information of the first user, and processing the captured information to authenticate the first user. Processing the captured information to determine patient identification information and authenticating the patient; and processing the first user identification information and patient identification information to retrieve the patient information.
