abstract A novel green algae, a source of diterpene and diterpene resin acid, and a production method thereof are provided. Diterpenes are produced using green algae into which a modified diterpene cyclase gene optimized for green algae is introduced. Moreover, diterpene resin acid as a rosin substitute is produced using green algae into which a modified diterpene cyclase gene and oxidase gene are introduced. Furthermore, a diterpene resin acid as a rosin substitute is produced using a genetically modified green algae into which a modified diterpene cyclase gene and a modified oxidase gene optimized for green algae are introduced.
