titleOfInvention | Neutron scintillator and neutron detector |
abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a neutron scintillator composed of a resin composition containing inorganic phosphor particles, in which the light transmittance of the resin composition is poor due to factors such as a mismatch in refractive index, and fluorescence caused by neutrons cannot be sufficiently extracted. Provides a neutron scintillator with excellent discrimination between neutrons and gamma rays. In a neutron scintillator comprising a resin composition of inorganic phosphor particles containing at least one neutron capture isotope selected from lithium 6 and boron 10 such as Eu: LiCaAlF 6 and a resin, the resin composition includes: Further, neutron insensitive phosphors having different fluorescence characteristics are included. Neutrons and γ-rays can be discriminated using differences in fluorescence characteristics such as fluorescence lifetime and emission wavelength when neutrons are incident and γ-rays are incident.
