abstract A self-inflating mechanism for compensating for a decrease in tire pressure is incorporated in a tire. A valve assembly of a tire having a tire cavity and a pair of sidewalls has a valve housing having an internal chamber, the diaphragm being attached to the internal chamber, the diaphragm being connected to the tire cavity and the fluid. A first side in communication and a second side in fluid communication with the internal chamber. The pump passage 42 of the pump opens and closes when the tire rotates. The internal chamber has an inlet chamber in fluid communication with the outside air and a central port in fluid communication with the first and second ends of the pump passage. The diaphragm is located above the central port and opens and closes the central port. A spring is located in the internal chamber of the valve housing and biases the diaphragm to the open position. The pump is in fluid communication with the tire cavity. [Selection] Figure 2
