abstract A composition having negative dielectric anisotropy, and a liquid crystal display element and a liquid crystal display using the liquid crystal composition are provided. A liquid crystal composition comprising a compound represented by formula (1) and comprising a component (B) which is a neutral component of dielectric anisotropy and a dielectrically negative component. The composition has dielectric anisotropy (Δε), viscosity (η), upper limit temperature of nematic phase (Tni), stability of nematic phase at low temperature (solubility), rotational viscosity (γ1), seizure characteristics. Is good, and hardly causes a drop mark during the production of the liquid crystal display element, enables stable discharge in the ODF process, and can suppress the occurrence of the drop mark in the liquid crystal display element.
