abstract |
The present invention provides a method for producing a vinyl ester under mild reaction conditions using a heterogeneously supported metal catalyst. A heterogeneous process for selectively forming a vinyl ester from a carboxylic acid, optionally in which a carboxylic acid dissolved in a suitable organic solvent is suitable in the presence of a supported metal catalyst. Reaction with acetylene, optionally in the presence of one or more ligands or additives or mixtures thereof at the reaction temperature and pressure, wherein the supported metal catalyst is 0.5% by weight on the catalyst support. Selectivity to vinyl ester with platinum loading level of ˜5 wt% and initial reaction mixture comprising a mixture of supported metal catalyst and carboxylic acid in an acid: metal molar ratio of 4000: 1 to 100: 1.
