abstract An object of the present invention is to provide a method capable of decomposing polychlorinated biphenyls on site in a safe and simple manner. The method for decomposing polychlorinated biphenyl according to the present invention comprises a polychlorinated biphenyl to be treated with a polyether compound and an alkali metal having a molar ratio of 2 times or more with respect to the total chlorine groups of the polychlorinated biphenyl.
