PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a colored polarizing optical element that can be manufactured in a short manufacturing time and has very little change in hue when surface finishing is performed to obtain a correction lens, and a manufacturing method thereof. The polarizing optical element (1) includes at least one first layer (7), at least one second layer (9), and a first layer made of a thermoplastic material or a thermosetting material.
