Provided is a pharmaceutical composition comprising a therapeutically effective amount of pterostilbene, a therapeutically effective amount of a statin compound, and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier. Embodiments of the pharmaceutical composition can have lipid-lowering properties, or can have properties that can treat oxidative stress by reducing inflammation or inflammatory processes that contribute to neurodegenerative diseases. A method for reducing lipid levels in an individual, wherein a pharmaceutical composition comprising a therapeutically effective amount of pterostilbene, a therapeutically effective amount of a statin compound, and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier requires such treatment.
