The present invention relates to a method for producing an aqueous suspension of calcium carbonate by grinding in an aqueous medium in the presence of an acrylic grinding aid and an alkali carbonate. These salts make it possible to reduce the amount of grinding aid used because of comparable levels of performance due to the rheology and particle size distribution of the suspension. One of the original features of the method is the first stage of alkali carbonate production in an aqueous solution of the acrylic polymer itself by addition of alkali hydroxide and bubbling carbon dioxide. |
