The present invention provides cross-linked poly-ε-lysine polymers. The poly-ε-lysine and the crosslinker are linked by an amide bond, and the crosslinker has at least two functional groups that can react with the alpha-carbon amine of the poly-ε-lysine. The polymer is suitably insoluble in water and other solvents and is provided in granular form. The present invention provides a particulate support comprising a cross-linked poly-ε-lysine polymer, which may provide the particles themselves or may be coated on particles such as silica. The polymers are used in a wide range of applications, for example wound healing, granular supports and medical diagnostics including functional materials attached or retained to supports, as well as solid phase synthesis of peptides, oligonucleotides, oligosaccharides, species It is useful in immobilization, cell culture, and chromatographic separation. |
