titleOfInvention | Extraction of proteinaceous substances from algae |
abstract | A method for separating proteins from plant material, particularly intact algal cells, using an amphiphilic solvent set and a hydrophobic solvent set. Some embodiments include dehydrating intact algal cells and then extracting proteins from the algal cells. The method provides single and multi-stage extraction processes that allow for effective separation of algal proteins from wet algal biomass. These proteins are very valuable products that can be used as a renewable source of food and food additives. Neutral lipids remaining in the algal biomass after protein extraction can be used to produce renewable fuels. [Selection] Figure 25 |
