abstract |
A method for improving fuel economy of a heavy duty diesel engine that produces a lubricating oil composition containing a large amount of soot during normal operation of the engine is disclosed. The method comprises a less effective amount of ashless comprising (a) a majority amount of oil of lubricating viscosity and (b) a reaction product of a C 4 to about C 75 fatty acid ester with a mono- or dialkanolamine. Introducing lubrication of a heavy duty diesel engine with a heavy duty diesel engine lubricating oil composition comprising a friction modifier. |
