Provided are a catalyst for preparing chlorine by oxidizing hydrogen chloride and a method for preparing the same. The catalyst comprises a support and an active component, the active component being 1 to 20 wt% copper, 0.01 to 5 wt% boron, 0.1 to 10 wt% alkali metal element, based on the total weight of the catalyst 0.1 to 15 wt% of one or more rare earth elements and one or more of 0 to 10 wt% selected from the group consisting of magnesium, calcium, barium, manganese, iron, nickel, cobalt, zinc, ruthenium and titanium or Multiple elements. The catalyst can be prepared by a two-stage impregnation method. The catalyst clearly improves conversion efficiency and stability when compared to existing similar catalysts. |
