abstract | The present invention relates generally to various types of intraocular shunts. In certain aspects, the present invention generally provides a shunt composed of a material having a modulus of elasticity that is compatible with the modulus of tissue surrounding the shunt. By this method, the shunt of the present invention is flexibly matched to the surrounding tissue and therefore remains in place after implantation without the need for any type of fixation source that interacts with the surrounding tissue. . As a result, the shunt of the present invention maintains fluid flow for the anterior chamber of the eye after implantation without causing hypersensitivity or inflammation in the tissues surrounding the eye. |
