abstract | A highly durable core-shell catalyst particle and a method for producing the core-shell catalyst particle are provided. A method for producing core-shell catalyst particles comprising a core containing palladium and a shell containing platinum and covering the core, wherein the average particle size is 5 nm or less and the standard deviation of the particle size distribution is 1. In the step of preparing a palladium particle carrier in which palladium-containing particles having a diameter of 4 nm or less are supported on a conductive carrier, and in an electrolytic solution containing copper ions, the palladium particle carrier is nobler than the redox potential of copper. A copper deposition step of depositing copper on the surface of the palladium-containing particles by applying a potential, and a substitution step of replacing the copper deposited on the surface of the palladium-containing particles with platinum.
