abstract |
A reflective film and related methods and articles are provided. The reflective film includes an inner layer positioned to selectively reflect light by constructive or destructive interference, the layer extending from a first zone to a second zone of the film. The first film has a first thickness and the inner layer provides a first reflective property in the first zone, the film has a second thickness, and the inner layer provides a second reflective property in the second zone. . The difference between the first reflection characteristic and the second reflection characteristic is not substantially attributable to any difference between the first thickness and the second thickness, and this difference may be zero. Rather, the difference in reflective properties may be substantially due to at least some birefringence reduction of the inner layer in one zone relative to the other zone. The film may also incorporate an absorbent to assist in the production or processing of the film. Related methods and articles are also disclosed. [Selection] Figure 1 |
