The present invention provides a soil conditioner capable of improving soil in an in-situ environment at high efficiency and at low cost as compared with conventional methods. A bark portion of a tree, comprising a bark material containing at least one of a bark portion, a powder obtained by pulverizing the bark portion, and a fibrous body obtained by pulverizing the bark portion, used in soil in an unfermented state.
