abstract An object of the present invention is to provide a simple and rapid method for evaluating a differentiation stage when producing mature hepatocytes from embryonic stem cells or the like without killing the cells. A method for evaluating the degree of liver differentiation of a cell, comprising a step of analyzing a lipid containing at least one of cholesterol, neutral fat, and phospholipid secreted into a supernatant obtained by culturing the cell. It was possible to evaluate the differentiation stage of hepatocytes by quantifying the components of lipoproteins secreted from hepatocytes. [Selection figure] None
