abstract |
Disclosed is a formulation that is not brittle while maintaining high modulus and excellent resistance to thermal degradation. An imide-extended maleimide compound is simply prepared by condensing a suitable anhydride and a suitable diamine to give an amine-terminated compound. These compounds can then be condensed with excess maleic anhydride to produce imide-extended maleimide compounds. [Effect] A maleimide-functional thermosetting composition having no thermally unstable bond is provided, thereby exhibiting excellent thermal stability when used as a toughening agent.
