titleOfInvention Droplet discharge head driving method, droplet discharge head, and image forming apparatus
abstract An object of the present invention is to ensure stable ejection performance at low cost by suppressing a decrease in displacement characteristics of a thin film piezoelectric actuator over time. A droplet discharge head using an actuator made of PZT outputs a voltage of either positive or negative polarity via a drive IC that applies a pulse-shaped voltage to the upper electrode and a DC voltage to the lower electrode. Then, a drive waveform is applied to the piezoelectric element to eject a droplet. Between the drive waveform and the next drive waveform, as a recovery waveform, a voltage portion that forms a recovery electric field having a polarity opposite to that of the drive electric field by the DC voltage applied to the upper electrode and the upper electrode, and a meniscus natural period A pulse-shaped voltage that does not resonate is applied.
