abstract |
A process for generating holes in a film or film nonwoven laminate that can overcome the effects of the molecular orientation of the film and can generate holes such as elliptical holes rather than slits. Provided. A method is provided for perforating a precursor web using a forming device, wherein the web comprises a film having a molecular orientation and the forming device comprises an array of teeth. The orientation of the teeth and the molecular orientation of the film are predetermined and modified to provide a relative angle between the tooth orientation and the film molecular orientation. The pores formed in the precursor web material have a length and width that exhibits a minimum aspect ratio. [Selection] Figure 1 |
