abstract | Disclosed is a liquid developer capable of suppressing granular unevenness generated in a transfer process in an image forming apparatus and obtaining a good image. A liquid developer according to the present invention includes toner particles and an insulating liquid, and the insulating liquid includes 10 to 60% by mass of a first hydrocarbon having 11 to 16 carbon atoms and a carbon number. The first hydrocarbon, which contains 40 to 90% by mass of the second hydrocarbon having 17 to 20%, does not contain the third hydrocarbon having 21 or more carbon atoms or contains 10% by mass or less, and is contained in the insulating liquid, The total amount of the second hydrocarbon and the third hydrocarbon is 95% by mass or more.
