titleOfInvention Semiconductor optical modulator
abstract The present invention provides a semiconductor optical modulator having an optical amplification function in which polarization dependency is suppressed and optical modulation is possible at high speed. An optical waveguide structure is formed of a semiconductor having an active layer and guides incident light in a direction orthogonal to the stacking direction of the semiconductor, and a modulation signal is applied to transmit the incident light to the optical waveguide structure. A semiconductor optical modulation amplification unit that modulates and amplifies while guiding the optical signal to the semiconductor optical modulation amplification unit, and a modulation signal application unit that applies the modulation signal to the semiconductor optical modulation amplification unit. The laser light having a wavelength different from that of the incident light is oscillated in the same direction as the waveguide direction of the incident light, or the same as or different from the incident light in a direction different from the waveguide direction of the incident light. A semiconductor optical modulator comprising a resonance structure that oscillates laser light of a wavelength. [Selection] Figure 1
