abstract A wet-type image forming apparatus capable of suppressing contamination of the environment around the apparatus even after image formation is completed. An image forming apparatus includes a fixing unit, a carrier liquid recovery mechanism, and a control unit. The fixing unit 30 includes a cover 31 and a non-contact heating unit 40 and a heating and pressing unit 50 that are disposed in an internal space 33 surrounded by the cover 31 and fix the toner. The carrier liquid recovery mechanism 60 condenses and recovers the carrier liquid vapor evaporated from the recording medium 6 by being heated in the internal space 33 of the fixing unit 30. The control unit continuously operates the carrier liquid recovery mechanism 60 for a predetermined period even after the image formation using the fixing unit 30 is completed. [Selection] Figure 1
