abstract Provided is an electrophotographic photosensitive member having a single-layer type photosensitive layer capable of suppressing the occurrence of image defects due to black spots and the memory effect even when the photosensitive layer is thin, and an image of the electrophotographic photosensitive member. An image forming apparatus provided as a carrier is provided. As a binder resin used in a single-layer type photosensitive layer, a specific polycarbonate resin is used at least 30% by mass or more, and a phthalocyanine pigment is used as a charge generation material in the photosensitive layer.
