titleOfInvention | Green sulfur bacterial mutant and method for producing bacteriochlorophyll c homologue using the same |
abstract | Disclosed is a BChl c producing mutant, particularly a BChl c producing mutant having a high composition ratio of high-grade BChl c molecular species, by genetic modification from a green sulfur bacterium producing bacteriochlorophyll (Bchl) e. SOLUTION: A green sulfur bacterium producing BChl e is characterized by a higher composition ratio of higher BChl c molecular species compared to a natural BChl c-producing green sulfur bacterium lacking the bciD gene. BChl c production mutant. A method for producing the mutant strain described above, wherein the bciD gene is deleted by gene targeting. A method for producing chlorosomes rich in BChl c or higher BChl c molecular species, comprising recovering BChl c or chlorosomes from the culture of the mutant strain, and chlorosomes obtained by the method.
