An organic electroluminescence element, a novel compound, a lighting device, and a display device having high luminous efficiency, low driving voltage, and long life are provided. A plurality of organic compound layers (organic EL layers) including a light-emitting layer containing a phosphorescent compound are sandwiched between an anode (a glass substrate with a transparent electrode 107) and a cathode 105. An electroluminescent device is disclosed. In the organic electroluminescence device, at least one of the organic compound layers contains a compound having a certain chemical structure.
