PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To propose a secondary battery in which a current interruption mechanism can operate appropriately. In the proposed secondary battery 100, the positive electrode active material layer 223 includes a plurality of hollow positive electrode active material particles 610, a plurality of conductive material particles 620, and a plurality of void support particles 630. Here, the void support particles 630 are particles that secure a predetermined void h in the positive electrode active material layer 223 that is distinguished from the hollow positive electrode active material particles 610. The conductive material particles 620 are particles that ensure conduction of the positive electrode active material layer 223, which is distinguished from the void support particles 630. Here, the positive electrode active material layer 223 has voids with an electrode plate pore diameter of 0.5 μm or more. The average particle size B of the void support particles is 1/3 ≦ (B / A) ≦ 2 with respect to the average particle size A of the hollow positive electrode active material particles.
