A method for efficiently producing an isotropic random mat comprising reinforcing fibers and a thermoplastic resin is provided. SOLUTION: After reinforcing fiber strands are slit into narrow strands, and then cut into a predetermined fiber length, reinforcing fibers (A) composed of a number of critical single yarns represented by the following formula (1); The reinforcing fiber strands are spread until the number of single yarns is less than the above critical single yarn number, and monofilament-like reinforcing fibers (M) cut in the same manner are mixed and deposited and fixed in a mat on a breathable support. In this case, the random mat is formed by supplying a thermoplastic resin in a space where the reinforcing fiber (A) and the reinforcing fiber (M) are mixed or at least to the reinforcing fiber mat. To manufacture. Critical number of single yarns = 600 / D (1) (D is the average fiber diameter (μm) of reinforcing fibers) [Selection] Figure 1 |
