abstract The present invention provides a toner capable of obtaining a stable image density regardless of the use environment, and capable of suppressing the occurrence of a problem of standing out even when the image forming apparatus is downsized and has a long service life. A toner containing toner particles containing a binder resin and a colorant and inorganic fine particles, wherein the inorganic fine particles are silica fine particles, the toner contains a specific amount of silica fine particles, and the silica fine particles are specific. The amount of the silicone oil based on the carbon amount is 70% or more, and the coverage X1 with the silica fine particles on the toner surface obtained by the X-ray photoelectron spectrometer is 50.0 area%. The diffusion index represented by [Diffusion index = X1 / X2] is [Diffusion index ≧ −0.0042 × X1 + 0.62] when the theoretical coverage by silica fine particles is X2 and is 75.0 area% or less.
