abstract | 【Task】 Provided is an efficient method for producing a hydroxyadamantanecarboxylic acid compound useful as a raw material for functional resins excellent in intermediates for medical and agricultural chemicals, optical properties, hardness, heat resistance, and the like. [Solution] The adamantane compound represented by the formula (1) is carboxylated by reacting with carbon monoxide or a carbon monoxide source in (a) a proton acid solution having a concentration of 90% by mass or more.
