titleOfInvention | Amine decolorization |
abstract | The present invention provides a method used to decolorize a composition containing one or more amines in the presence of one or more weak acids. Significantly, weak acids, specifically organic acids such as glacial acetic acid, when used in combination with heat treatment, produce dramatically fewer by-products than strong mineral acids, and heat treatment and subsequent separation techniques. Reduce the amount of waste generated while making it more effective. In some embodiments, the weak acid need not be neutralized, eliminating the neutralization step and the waste stream associated with neutralization. As a result, low color products can be easily obtained with very high yields. |
