The present disclosure relates to, inter alia, C5 binding polypeptides and the use of such polypeptides in methods for treating or preventing complement related disorders. Also featured is a therapeutic kit comprising one or more of the above C5-binding polypeptides and a means for administering the polypeptide to a subject. The present disclosure provides, inter alia, C5-binding polypeptides having one or more of the above improved properties. The polypeptide can also inhibit, for example, cleavage of C5 into C5a and C5b fragments, thereby preventing not only terminal complement formation but also C5a-dependent inflammatory responses. |
