An object of the present invention is to provide a method for isolating and using a non-senescent pool of adult cardiac stem cells. The present invention describes the isolation and use of a non-senescent pool of adult cardiac stem cells. In particular, a small population of adult cardiac stem cells with excellent regenerative capacity is disclosed. Such cells were found to have immortal DNA. Also described are compositions comprising non-senescent stem cells. Furthermore, the present invention provides a method for repairing aged or damaged myocardium using isolated non-senescent adult cardiac stem cells. [Selection figure] None |
