titleOfInvention | Apparatus and formulations and methods for detecting, examining and monitoring the level of specific components in body fluids |
abstract | Disclosed are devices for performing a non-invasive analysis of bodily fluids to determine the presence and level of specific components retained by the bodily fluids, and methods of making the devices. The device includes an indicator formulation that can change color in response to exposure to a particular component to provide a visual indicator of the presence and level of the particular component retained by the body fluid. The apparatus provides a retention matrix of material having voids that define a high void volume within the retention matrix. The chromagen formulation is added to the holding substrate to produce a chromagen-containing holding member. The selected reagent is then added to the chromagen-containing retaining member, the reagent having a formulation specific to the component of the property. The selected reagent is then combined with the chromagen formulation, thereby defining an indicator formulation in place on the holding substrate to receive a sample of bodily fluid subsequently placed on the holding substrate.
