Prosthetic fabric structure |
abstract |
Disclosed herein is an implantable prosthesis for breast augmentation or reconstruction procedures. Prosthesis includes a biocompatible and biodegradable fabric structure that includes one or more individual weaving yarns composed of sericin extracted natural fibroin fibers, where the weaving yarns are combined to produce a fabric structure. The fabric structure extends at least in a first dimension and has at least a first surface adapted to engage and support a natural breast tissue or prosthetic breast implant in the patient. Also disclosed is a method of supporting breast tissue or breast implants within a patient by inserting prosthesis between the patient's skin and breast tissue and / or breast implants within the patient.
