Biological processes for converting organic by-products |
abstract |
An apparatus for processing an organic waste stream (1) for processing an organic waste stream (1) to reduce the average particle size (38) before flowing into a biological reactor (40) is disclosed. Is done. The efficiency of the bioreactor (40) is increased by using a mechanical device (38) that reduces the average particle size simultaneously with mixing the organic waste stream. The mechanical device (38) is preferably a device that causes attrition and reduction in the average particle size of the organic waste stream (1). This results in a lower viscosity feed into the bioreactor (40), and thus a much more efficient process, and thus a higher feed stream (which was once thought possible) ( 1) can be handled. |
