Embodiments for creating and closing a tissue access port, such as a transapical access port, are described. One embodiment involves placement of an introducer across the target tissue structure and deployment of a controllable port closure device assembly. The previous access, which is closed against the sealing disk using proximal and distal strut assemblies so that the closure device assembly remains in place using the ratchet mechanism and after the introducer is removed It is configured to keep the tissue surrounding the port location. |
