abstract |
The present invention relates to a medical implant (1) for use in the treatment of cartilage on the joint surface of a joint. The implant includes a curvilinear and substantially plate-like implant body (11) and one or more columnar bodies (8). The implant body (11) is provided with an articular surface side surface (3) formed so as to face the joint surface of the joint and one or more columnar bodies (8) formed so as to face the bone structure of the joint. And an articulating surface (3) and a bone contacting surface (6) facing in opposite directions. A cartilage contact surface (7) connects the articular surface side surface (3) and the bone contact surface (6) and is formed to contact the cartilage surrounding the implant body (11) of the joint. The cartilage contact surface (7) includes a coating consisting essentially of a bioactive material. [Selection figure] None |
