abstract |
The present invention relates to a method and composition for fuel supply to an internal combustion engine that provides improved nitrogen-free cleanliness for the engine, particularly in the injector deposit control region. The present invention provides both improved cleanliness and improved corrosion protection, and additionally avoids fuel compatibility issues and / or is delivered to fuel from deposit control additives A method for limiting the amount of nitrogen is also provided. The present invention adds (i) a nitrogen-free additive comprising a substituted hydrocarbon having at least two carboxylic acid functional groups in acid form or at least one carboxylic acid functional group in anhydride form to a fuel composition. And (ii) providing a method for providing improved cleanliness to a fuel system of an internal combustion engine comprising the step of supplying the fuel composition to the internal combustion engine. |
